Why consider IVF treatment?

IVF treatment is an assisted technique used for couples who suffer from infertility problems. In this method, the female partner is given several fertility drugs for stimulating the production of several eggs. The fertility specialist will retrieve the eggs using a fine needle. The eggs are fertilized with sperms in a lab. The embryos may take 5-7 days to grow after which they are placed into the womb of a woman.

Who considers IVF an effective method?

IVF is an excellent method for people with different problems such as:

Some women suffer from ovulation problems. The ovulation does not occur on time due to which they are not able to conceive naturally. In such cases, the infertility specialist will give fertility drugs to a woman for proper ovulation and retrieve the eggs to fertilize them outside in a lab.

Damage to fallopian tubes due to surgery or injury can also cause infertility in women. Scar tissue may block the fallopian tubes and the sperms are not able to reach the fallopian tubes for egg fertilization.

Endometriosis is another common cause of women's infertility. In this problem, the uterine membrane grows outside the uterus due to which implantation of the embryo does not take place.

Men may suffer from infertility due to undescended testes, poor sperm quality, and a low number of sperm. Poor semen quality is the most common cause of infertility in men due to which couples choose the IVF process for having a child.

Hormonal imbalance is another reason for infertility in many couples. Either a man or a woman may have a hormonal imbalance that may cause infertility. Certain hormones released by reproductive organs and the pituitary gland play an important role in reproduction.

In some couples, the reason for infertility cannot be found. Due to unknown reasons, a couple is unable to bear a child after successful attempts for a year. In such cases, they have to choose the IVF method to get a child.

When to consider IVF treatment?

People should choose the IVF technique when conception is not possible using natural methods. It is an ideal method to choose in the following cases:

Women who are above 35 years of age and find it difficult to get pregnant using natural methods must choose IVF treatment because the chance of producing healthy eggs reduces after a certain age in women. Older women are not able to produce a sufficient number of eggs in each cycle as compared to younger women.

IVF is the choice of treatment for couples who do not want to transmit any genetic problems to their child. IVF is a safe method of having a healthy child without any genetic issues. Some people are not able to produce healthy sperms or eggs due to which they are advised on using donor sperms or eggs.

Some people suffer from chronic diseases such as cancer due to which they are not able to produce healthy sperms and eggs. Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy affect the fertility in such people. In such cases, couples decide to use the IVF treatment by using donor eggs or sperm.

Some couples do not want to become parents at an early age and they store their eggs and sperm to use them at a later stage. This method helps such couples to become financially stable and achieve their career goals. They use their stored eggs and sperm to develop an embryo outside in a lab and then the fertilized egg or an embryo is implanted inside the uterus of the woman.

IVF is also a method of treatment for couples who choose surrogacy to have a child. Thus, there are lots of people who have benefited from this method to have a child.
